Lutong Bahay

One time, I asked her why she loved to cook, not just for her karinderya, but also for the family and the wider community.

“Nakakagalak sa puso” she answered.
It fills my heart with love.

This illustration and writing piece for Kindling and Sage is personal and sincere for me. Telling of wonderful memories with food and the love that radiated out of my mama, Lutong Bahay is something special that I wanted to share with others in the hopes of making a connection, and evoking the warmth of those moments.
